Regional Network on Health Professionals Regulation

Regulation of health services and systems aims to protect individuals and communities from harm, improve service quality, equity and access, and can contribute to increased economic efficiency. Regulation of health professionals is an important part of national health regulatory systems for patient and public safety. Regulation of health professionals refers to the arrangements put in place to protect the public by assuring, sustaining and improving professional standards across all regulated health professions. It aims to ensure that the public, consumers, employers and practitioners have confidence that concerns they raise about a health practitioner's competence and behavior are addressed in a way that is consistent, open, and impartial. The regulation of health professionals is relatively better established in a number of countries in the region and is an evolving feature of health systems in others. This virtual network aims to provide a platform for health officials, regulators, policy makers, practitioners and educators to connect, communicate, share experiences, ideas and resources in strengthening.
